Götterdämmerung

Even if some T. Rex fans don't like me anymore after these lines - I found the concert by Marc Bolan & Co. in the half-full Gruga Hall in Essen a little disappointing. It could be that Marc was angry about the incident during rehearsals (a loudspeaker fell on his 10,000 Mark guitar), it could be that he wasn't in the right mood - in any case, his almost two-hour show did not elicit the kind of applause that I had expected. Sound melted into a single mass of noise. Marc also didn't play any of the numbers all the way through, but lost himself in fairly monotonous improvisations that were also much too long. I had trouble recognizing the songs. It's a shame - I've seen T. Rex play much better at their concerts in England.

PS. At his performance at the "Musikladen" on February 22nd, Marc was back to his old self.
