DAVID BOWIE returns to Britain next May for six concerts at the Wembley Empire Pool. It will be the final leg of a tour that will take him across America and Europe.
The six concerts will be from May 3-8. Tickets will be £3.75 and £2.75 and are available by postal application only from MAM at 24 New Bond Street, W1. Enclose a stamped addressed envelope and indicate a choice of dates. And mark the envelope 'Bowie Concert'. The tickets will be allocated in three weeks time but applications are being accepted as from now.
It will be Bowie's first concert in this country since July 1973 at the Hammersmith Odeon when he announced his 'retirement'.
His backing band will consist of lead guitarist Earl Slick, rhythm guitar Carlos Alomar,
bass George Murray and drummer Dennis Davies, who are on Bowie's latest single 'Golden Years'.
Promoter Roger Forrester for Early Associates, who are organising the concerts in conjunction with MAM, told SOUNDS that Bowie was planning a 'lavish stage presentation'.
Bowie's next album,
'Station To Station', which has just been completed in Hollywood, is to be released in January, just before Bowie sets off on the first part of the tour which covers Canada and the States. It will finish in New York from where he will sail across the Atlantic to the South of France and begin a series of European concerts that will take in Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The film, 'The Man Who Fell To Earth', which has Bowie in a starring role, has been set for a Spring release by British Lion.
The soundtrack of Bowie's music for the film will be issued by RCA.
