The Scandalous Sex Suite is released featuring the non-album track Sex & a 19-minute three-part version of Scandalous titled The Crime, The Passion & The Rapture
"Scandalous," rebranded as "Scandalous!" for its single release, is the eighth track on Prince's Batman soundtrack album and became the album's fourth single, released five months post-album launch. The composition credits go to Prince and his father, John L. Nelson. Following the single's release, a maxi single titled The Scandalous Sex Suite emerged, featuring a three-part, 19-minute suite based on the song "Scandalous," segmented into The Crime, The Passion, and The Rapture. Kim Basinger, Prince's then-girlfriend and the actress behind Batman's Vicki Vale, also made an appearance on the maxi single.
An edited version of the track is featured during the end credits of the Batman movie, succeeding Danny Elfman's "Batman Theme Reprise." Elfman incorporated elements of the "Scandalous!" melody into his score for Batman, particularly in the sequence where Vicki Vale confronts Bruce Wayne in the Batcave.
