"I Would Die 4 U" b/w/ "Another Lonely Christmas" is released as a 12" single in the US.
"I Would 4 U" the fourth commercially released single from Prince's, "Purple Rain," the first album credited to Prince and the Revolution. (Syndicate and Erotic City had also been available as releases following the third commercial single, "Purple Rain.")
The single was the third to be credited to Prince and the Revolution. It was released five months after album and received a worldwide release. The B-side " Lonely," was unreleased.
The single reached number 8 on the US Hot 100 Chart, marking the fourth consecutive top 10 single from "Purple Rain." It also reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot Black Chart.
