Releases the album Rare, all the songs featured were from the seventies

"Rare," also known as "Bowie Rare," is a compilation album released by RCA Records. At the time, Bowie's relationship with the label had soured – he had completed his last recordings for RCA with the "Baal" EP and was frustrated by the label's release of his five-year-old duet with Bing Crosby, "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy," without his approval. Displeased with the "Rare" compilation, Bowie decided to leave RCA and join EMI Records for his subsequent album. "Rare" featured tracks that were being made available on LP and cassette for the first time.

The compilation contained rarities recorded between 1969 and 1980. RCA did not issue Rare in the United States; nor was the album reissued on CD along with most of Bowie's other RCA albums in 1984.

On the UK Albums Chart, where it remained for eleven weeks, the album peaked at number 34.
